Long Island, Suffolk. Went back to visit and its way too crazy crowded. Even took a walmart load out to Riverhead, pretty cool.

Cool. I from Nassau County. Been in NC almost 20 years.
Im happy to read of your success so far! Im starting Driving school myself in may when I finish this semester of school. One thing I felt I absolutely had to share is for cold weather situations there is nothing better than a waffle set. (ECWCS Generation III Level 2 Quilted Mid-Weight Thermals) example here and here. Consequently it was also the first thing my wife stole when I started going through my gear. Its not too expensive, and its the kind of stuff that last several seasons even under hard use.
That whole website is interesting. Saved it to a favorite.
That is really awesome. We had to use the chains going up the mountains on I-70. It wasnt an easy chore but a necessary lesson for me. Im just a passenger seat driver right now. Grew up in New York snow but 33years in Florida, well, i needed a refresher course. Feeling alot better about the snow, just need to get the clothes straighted out. Then i have to establish an address in Memphis and do the Swift training. Good luck to you. You sound like a go-getter. Thats very encouraging.
Are you going to move to Memphis? How will you establish an address. I could be accepted to a more desirable school, but I have to be a resident of a different state, I can't really afford to move there, but my daughter lives in that state. Just curious. Thanks
Today is day 8 pm the road with my trainer. During your 1st 180 hours of driving u make $10/hr. On duty not driving is your state minimum wage.
Luckily my trainer rocks and let's me run my clock out everyday as long as I feel safe to drive!! This has been an awesome experience so far. My biggest challenge was driving out of Brooklyn new York back to Pennsylvania. We just dropped our 3rd load off in Phoenix this morning and now we are headed to cali!!
It looks like there are plenty of miles to run if your willing to keep driving. I heard a lot of ppl whining about their miles, so I'm going to assume that they don't get them because of their own personal work ethic issues. We always have a new load to pick up days before we drop the load we are carrying. My time management skills are definitely being tested. I'm here to make money though so keep the loads coming :)
Awesome to hear. You are another person proving what they say here on TT. It's easy to get all the miles you want with any company. Just drive and don't whine. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the update. What do you make after the first 180 hours?
Best of luck to you, Patricia! I'm out here in Phase 1 as well. Got close to 60 hours so far. We run pretty hard with no problem getting loads with good miles either.
Moz, use ur daughters address. Change ur license over. I will probably get a post office box and send myself some mail with the license change. Patricia, you said you had 10 hrs of practice every day on the tarmac. You didn't have to share with 4, 8, or 12 other students? And they had automatics out there. Maybe that's why? Glad ur trainer is working out. We just went thru Georgia with the tornadoes. We had a blowout on a trailer tire, scared the bejesus out of us. Sounded like a bomb went off. No loss of steering control. That took a litttle over an hour to get fixed. Then later on we were stuck in traffic on I-75S, 45 minute behind where a tornado went thru and killed 5 people. God takes care of fools and truckers.
