The only real limitation on what your drone is capable of doing is how much you are willing to spend on it. The drone may have been given an instruction to simply hover in place and record as he backs in. It may have the capability of following the truck to some extent. I am assuming that the drone you are talking about is the driver's. Without a link to the video, and no I am not searching youtube for it, it is hard to tell exactly what you are talking about. To be any help to him backing in, the drone would have to be providing realtime video to a display in the truck or even his smartphone. Yes they have that ability. It is also possible he is just using it to record and downloading it later for his videos.
Operating While Intoxicated
This is Allie Knight's backing video shot by her drone. The drones are usually operated by someone outside the truck. She did this as an educational video. Hope it helps.
Hey, there Bill.
I included the link for you review.

Bill, I just figured out how to properly attach the link
Thanks for the link Phil. From the looks of that video, and I am guessing here, I think it is on some sort of auto pilot flying mode. The drone looks like it is following directly over the cab of the truck and stays there. When the truck stops the drone stops and when it moves the drone follows. I am not an expert in current private use drone tech, but I have a technology background and know that when you combine a drone, on board computer, wireless internet communication, HD camera, GPS, and human imagination into one device, almost anything is possible for this technology.

Ps. If that is you in the picture; Great Beard.
Hey, Bill.
Appreciate your input. I will continue researching the topic for further details. I'll keep you posted once I have found the precise answer I am seeking.
Ps. Yes, that is my ugly mug. 6 mos. of not shaving. Can't wait to see what 1 year looks like!
I read your bio. Interesting life of yours. You OTR?
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Greetings forum,
I viewed a YouTuber's video who posts recorded footage of himself backing into parking spots at truck stops. His video includes him commenting on his own skill, such as where he could improve and the such. He clearly and emphatically states that he is NOT controlling the drone as he is parking. The drone hovers over him.
So, my question to the forum will is:
-Can anyone help explain if these drones simply record ONLY or do they provide real-time footage via some sort of screen inside the cab thus serving as an eye-in-the-sky?
Your general thoughts & comments are obviously welcomed
