Thanks G! Yeah, I pretty much have it figured out now. As for the refer unit itself, I guess I'll just have to start pressing buttons and see what happens. LOL
I'm thinking an old style garden claw might work. The extended tandem release would probably work too but is a bit too long maybe.

I have a pair of long handled pliers that have worked too. You had an older unit, ropes r usually in good shape on the newer ones.

Tractor tandems are generally just referred to as "drives" which is short for "drive axles".
