Hey, that was an excellent idea for a quick trip and those are awesome photos too! Very cool. I went to see the ships docked in the harbor in Buffalo, NY not that long ago. Did the whole inside and out tour thing.
Air shows are amazing, too. One time I sat around all day reading and relaxin in South Carolina and I missed the Blue Angels like 30 miles up the road. They flew over on their way back to base. I looked it up online and I'm like "Oh maaaan, how could you miss that right up the road???" It was like a 75 degree flawlessly sunny summer day and I'm reading a book in my truck. Dumb!
Great pictures! Thanks for posting! The Navy brat in me loves ships.
If you're ever near Mobile, Alabama, the USS Drum is a decommissioned diesel that's on display in Battleship Memorial Park as a museum that can be toured. I found it really cool since I had only ever been on aircraft carriers and tug boats.

I've never overnighted in Mobile, but if I do, I hope I remember the USS Drum! Would love to get some sub pics.
That's a tiny ship! ;-)

I stopped in Houston for a 34 and some service on my truck, and decided to go see the US Texas. There is a Loves in La Porte, very close to the state park, but you will still need to take an Uber or a cab or something. I saw a sign indicating that the state park road is only rated for 20,000 lbs.
Here is a photo album of my visit. Unfortunately Imgur removed the ability to organize files by filenames, so it's picture soup, but there are a LOT of pictures. 256 of them. If you like old warships, I'm sure there will be things you will enjoy.
