..is not a good place to be at night in the winter.
Unloaded in Wilmington, ca. and am dead heading to Yuma, got on I8 out of San Diego headed east, and once I started going up the mountain, it started to get very windy.
My intention was to make it to Yuma tonight, but I had planned on stopping g at a truck stop for a few things, then moving on.
Truck stop was about 40 miles ahead of me, and I'm pulling an empty trailer. To be honest...at one point, I was wondering if I was going to even make the truck stop.
I'm still new to trucking, so I don't know what it would take to actually blow a truck over...but the wind was so strong, and I kept looking back at my trailer and kept seeing it swaying all over.....made truck stop and had to shut it down til morning.
First time I've had to shut down from wind, but now I see that high winds are nothing to play with in a truck.
So glad you are safe!!! Winds have been crazy this year. In Iowa at the flying j I saw the awning and stop sign blow away. Another driver had to push on my truck door while I pukked just for me to close the door. I was empty and no way was I moving.
In WY both this year and last year I saw trucks just fall on their sides. Its crazy. If you see that trailer moving too much it is much safer to stop.

I'm sorry you pukked. I hope you are feeling better now.
It can be windy on I-8 through San Diego and Imperial counties at any time of year. I'd even say that it might be worse in the Fall when the Santa Ana Winds are blowing.
I'm glad you avoided being another rollover on that road.
Did you stop at the Golden Acorn, Sambo?
Operating While Intoxicated
Yep, got me a pizza and a soda and cabled up for the night

Yeah, I sure hope she is feeling better. Must be some serious velocity if you have to have another driver hold the door.........
