Yet another good Podcast, Sir.
This comes in good time Brett. I was reading today that something you think isnt so severe ( A toothache) can threaten or even end your life. A truck driver died leaving 2 small children & wife behind because he thought he could push thru & handle a toothache. Which in turn, the infection spread to his lungs & took his life. . . Scary ! but food for thought.
Thanks guys!
Managing risk is a science unto itself. Knowing your personal limits and the limits of your equipment is critical.
why didn't you start these a long time ago
I'm not sure, really. I guess it's because I'm more of a reading guy versus video or audio so I just stuck with writing articles. But we have well over 400 articles so I wanted to add more variety to things. Everyone has their own preferences for how they consume content so I wanted to give people more options.

Real scary! Geesh!

Hey folks, we have another new episode of Our Podcast "The Road Home" out today which asks:
Do You Know Your Limits?
Managing risk is the most important part of the job for OTR truck drivers. Nothing matters more than safety. So how do you know if it's time to shut down or if you should push on?
- Is this snowstorm just too severe?
- Are these winds threatening to tip me over?
- Am I too tired or too sick to drive?
- Is my trainer asking too much of me?
These questions and many more will be a part of everyday life on the road for every driver. In this podcast we'll discuss these situations, and more, to help you understand how to manage risks safely out there on the highway.
Do You Know Your Limits?
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Yes to all the above questions. Class A full road test and you will need training. I'm a Class B myself. I'm sure a few of the veteran members here will be able to give you all the solid answers you need . In short though A is different experience than B .
Totally agree. I know that if I have a mentor, my rules are if I think I am truly too fatigued to continue to drive then I am going to put the truck in a parked position and switch out. At the same time you have to get your body adjusted to the long hours of driving to be successful. Otherwise no production.
