my manual update location pinned me in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa
That's because it didn't get an address properly for you. That location is 0,0. It returned a blank. Try doing it again and see what it does.

Wish I had a button that could do that

Woody, Brett can hook you up. He's the app master. Gonna start calling him Scotty (from Star Trek). I can see the headlines now. "Trucking Truth Revolutionizes Logistics and Transportation With The Advent Of The Freightporter."
"[Dateline - Frozen North America] Brett Aquila; the founding father of Trucking Truth and inventor of The Freightporter, now richer than Bill Gates, was last seen chillin' on his yacht in the bay of his private island vacation home in the Caribbean, sippin' a frosty cold one and . . . writing a new trucking app to help the now dying breed of The Old North American Trucker stay viable and employed and the new breed of Young Freight Teleporters learn the ropes." LOL.
Brett, just giving you props bro. "Giving you props bro?" Really? My kids and grandkids tell me I shouldn't try and use their lingo because I never get the context right, but I think I got that one right.

You nailed it! Loved the headlines. "Freightporter" - you totally just coined a phrase right there!

That would be great! Especially considering I just came in from feeding the animals and carrying in firewood. It's 31 degrees outside and a light snow is falling. I can't remember the last time I saw a sandy beach!
That is flippin' awesome!!!
Ok, another major update to the Truck Tracker. I've eliminated the list of drivers to the right of the map, expanded the map to the full width of the screen, and made the table (below the map) interact with the map.
Here's a few tips:
1) The green button at the top of the page lets you update your location. If it can't pick up your location automatically it will allow you to enter a city and state manually. The page will refresh automatically once it gets your position.
2) You can click anywhere on the table below the map to highlight that person on the map
3) You can click the column headings to sort the entire table by that column. For instance, click on "Distance" and it will sort all of the drivers by their distance from you. Click on "Last Update" and it will sort the entire table based on the last time each person updated their position
4) The search feature at the top right corner of the table is awesome! All you have to do is start typing and it will instantly filter the results to reflect what you're typing. For instance, if you wanted to find "Gerald H. AKA Doc" you could simply type "do" and you will see there are only 4 results. Finish it up by adding a "c" to the end..."doc"...and you'll see only "Gerald H. AKA Doc" will be listed. Try it out - it's really cool. You can instantly find anyone in a snap.
5) By default the table only shows 10 entries at a time. You can change that with the menu at the top left of the table itself and you can page through the entries with the "Previous" and "Next" buttons at the bottom right of the table.
6) You can also click on the markers themselves on the map and the person's name will pop up.
7) The map is completely interactive. You can zoom in or out and drag it around anywhere you like.
I tested it in Chrome, IE9, IE10, Firefox, and Safari on my iPad and it seems to be working well. Let me know if you guys have any problems or suggestions. And by the way - this isn't just for drivers. This is for anyone!. If you're a member here on TruckingTruth we'd love to have you share your location. I appreciate all your work with this Brett. One day, we will eat dinner with tea!

That would be fantastic!
This has been a fun little app to put together. I'm enjoying it. I'm just not sure what features I should add to it. Any ideas? I have to look into the routing thing to see if it's feasible to let people enter their destination so we can see who will be crossing paths. That would probably be pretty awesome.

Hi Brett. Down for a couple days home time and thought I'd stop and say hi to everyone. I updated my location a few minutes ago and did all the things you suggested and my manual update location pinned me in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. Now I'm a helluva driver but I ain't THAT good. LOL. Browser is IE 10 - yeah I know. Microsoft fixing things that ain't broken. No biggie. I'm pretty sure folks know I didn't drive to the Cape Verde Islands.
Star - my birthday's in January too: We need to talk about this gift thing. Halvsies.
