Yes and yes for Prime.
Cool. I'm a hopeless addict. Can anyone answer for Roehl?
I can't answer as a Riehl driver, but I think if a company tried to go non-smoking, they would lose a lot of their drivers. Seems a large number of us smoke.
Yes and yes for Roehl.
There are non tobacco using truckers?

I sorta figured that tobacco use would be high among truckers, but knowing corporate culture it wouldn't surprise me to be told many or most had banned smoking in a truck. They probably haven't since it would be near unenforceable.
Probably the high rate of smoking is do to a combination of Alpha Dog mentality (it's cool and rugged so I'll do it and no one can make me stop), stress, and a little boredom thrown in. I can imagine when you get away from population centers and traffic is extremely sparse and there is little to see one can get bored and it being just something to do. I know I tend to smoke a lot more when I am either stressed out, bored, or fatigued.

Every day brings a new question to ask and I have begun a notebook. Today's question is about smoking. At Prime you can request a smoking and nonsmoking trainer. Roehl doesn't mention this at all. I know that Prime's policy could just mean you don't want to get trapped next to one of us stinky smokers who burned one at the trunk stop. Are you allowed to smoke in the truck and especially when driving?
