Anyone here have any experience with or know anything about this company? I looked at their website, and they are based in the midwest. The reason I am asking is because they recently ran an ad in the Columbus, Ga paper saying they were hiring...based in Columbus, Ga to run GA, FL and SC. Said nothing on their site about pay, loads, etc. so I was checking here. I am extremely happy with Prime and am not in any hurry to leave them, but eventually I would like to run something that would get me home more often.

It's interesting that they posted an ad in SC as they are based out of Perryville, MO. That's where their plant is (my husband used to live in this area).

They produce popcorn there, so I imagine all their loads are fairly light!

Other than that bit of information, that's all I really know. I see them all the time in MO, AR and TX.

I am gonna go out on a limb and guess that they require at least a year of experience before they will hire you to their fleet. But I've been wrong before...

Agree with Chickie.

They don't appear to be a "training company" - so they are likely to require previous experience.

From the reported "driver shortage" - we're seeing a lot of companies that previously required 2 years, asking for 1 - and one's that were asking for a year, only looking for 6-9 months.

They appear to be a "private label/foodservice" type company - so look for a lot of restaurant deliveries, and a lot of "driver unload" type drops.

I see the Holster trucks all the time on I-55 in SE MO. I looked up the company a while ago. I believe they are a big private label food company.

The trailers are big boxes, no side doors like a food service delivery (and I never noticed if they are reefers). As a food manufacturer, they would deliver to grocery DCs. That wouldn't be a bad gig.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Kat, if you're looking for more frequent home time, consider RBITrucking (Robert Bearden Inc) based in Cairo, GA. Southeast regional with most loads going out of Valdosta. Requires two years experience, but might offer what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Thanks! I will keep them in mind. Not looking to switch right now...just exploring options for later on if OTR becomes too much.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Gilster is a great company. I've had friends that drove for them years ago. Yep they make cereal, snacks, that kind of stuff so the loads are fairly light.

I'd work for them if I was looking for a job.
