I am very nervous now...๐Ÿ˜€ I just put in my application to Prime. How long does it takes for a recruiter to contact you and what is normally discussed?

So exciting! I will be starting with prime on the 6th. My recruiter called me the next morning, I applied late the night before though. He kind of went over my application then said that everything looked great and that he will send it in for the background part. He let me know all about the training process and how long it would be and what they is going to be. He originally told me to get my CDL permit before hand but since o decided to go to the Springfield location instead of the Salt Lake City location I didn't have to. I will be taking my permit test when I get there. He also asked when I would be willing to head out so he could make sure everything was done in time on his part. He called me a few days later with my official start date confirmation. And sent an email with a check list of things I will need for orientaion. Along with greyhound information for my bus ticket out there.

CONGRATS!! I'm in the final stages of my TnT training with Prime and do not regret my decision to go with them one bit. I'm sure you already know, but in the small chance you don't, search for prime and rainy in the search box and you'll find Rainy's diary on her experience with Prime. If you have any questions, holler at me, Rainy, or Turtle. All of us are Primates and are more than willing to help if we can. Plus, there are other Primates on here as well. Best of luck!! And again, CONGRATS!!

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14ยข per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

I'm pretty sure that is with all of the company sponsored CDL schools. You are not being charged for your CDL school out of pocket and upfront. They are investing in you. In exchange they ask for a year contract. You really want to have at least a year experience with your first company anyways. Once you have that year a bunch of opportunities open up for you. But those companies want to see at least a year of OTR experience anyways. Plus prime is one of the well Known and highest paying CDL company sponsored program out there. If you are looking to not have to sign a year conrtract than a private school is your best bet to get your CDL.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
