I spoke with a driver today and he said that with electric logs a traffic jam or a in in his case a train stuck on the tracks a a crossing still burned the available driving time. Is this accurate how do you deal with delays and available hours?
I know drivers who go off duty while in stand still traffic and such. However, if someone hits you and cops see you are off duty in the middle.of the interstate....well.. That's falsifying records.
I drive so my breaks are around the usual traffic. Very rarely am I near a major city during rush hour.
Trains never go over interstates so that would be a temporary situation near a customer....easy fix...be really really early so situations like that do not affect your appt times.
Instances are so rare they only minimally affect drive time. Downgrades, weather and construction slow me down more. But I still get plenty of miles in my week so not concerned with it.
Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).
I've gone"on duty, not driving" in a stand still to take the time off duty clock vs drive clock occasionally. Might be bending the rules a little but I'm not moving so.....
My companies QualComm setup will automatically switch you to On Duty, Not Driving if you sit still for more than around 3 mins. (I would have to time it to give you an exact number) So in traffic jams it will automatically switch you.
Well thats good to know. I know this gentleman told me he had been driving for 30 + years so I was wondering if he had a one sided opinion so to speak on e-logs. ( not saying he was a bad guy or had wrong information by no means) he probably just not to familiar with all the details of elogs.
