Just a heads up. Many OTR companies have home on weekend dedicated accounts also. I did that for a while at Swift. You'll probably have to spend some months OTR, though.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Matt, I noticed your profile says you live in Wisconsin. Look into Roehl (Marshfield, WI), Schneider (Green Bay, WI), and H.O. Wolding (Amherst, WI). I am willing to bet all 3 have Regional , probably even local, available for where you live. I know for a fact that H.O. Wolding will let you start out as Regional (home every weekend). Besides, Blue looks better than orange or red. If your partial to orange we do Have Orange Writing. LoL

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Honestly the number of orange trucks are starting to diminish. Mostly black, white, and champagne now. Although I have seen some O/Os driving old Schneider trucks. You just can't miss pumpkin orange. It is like looking at a rolling road cone.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Just a heads up...Covenant has a religious side to it. If you look at the trailers, they have signs opposing abortion and preaching God. "Covenant with the lord" type of stuff. Personally I wouldn't care what the company supported if it paid and treated me well....but there are other people who refuse to tolerate such things that may oppose their views.

You might want to question Covenant about the religious beliefs and aspects of the company.

I didn't realize that rainy thanks. I'm doing alot of research on alot of companies keeping all the advice I have gotten here in mind. I actually just had a pretty good experience with a recruiter from a different company on the phone even though we decided quickly the company wouldn't be a good fit he was vary honest and upfront telling me this. Helps ease my mind a little talking to recruiters.

Don't typically talk negative about companies...

Talked to a guy in GA, that recruits for a number of companies - we had a laugh about Cov, based on past & present rep.

Most of what you hear negative about a company on many forums, is a combination rumor, innuendo and butthurt.

Just like CRST - if Cov is one of your only options, or what they offer is compelling over what companies that consistently get "spoken well of" here on TT pushes you towards them - then by all means consider them. They are WAY SMALLER in revenues, than say, Swift or Prime.

I can't speak ill of them, with no first hand experience.

Rick
