I got a 1000 watt/ 110 volt inverter in my truck and want to get an electric skillet. When buying appliances do i need consider the volts on the appliance too? I already know about the watts. Found a couple of electric skillets that are 150 watts and 120 volt. Do I need to find something with less volts?

120 volts is what you want. You may want to idle while using the skillet so it doesn't put too much drain on the batteries.

Bon Appétit!

OK thanks. I am looking forward to cooking more. Going to get an extension cord to so I can cook outside of the truck. Don't want to stink the truck up haha.

I use an aroma cooker/steamer in my truck. Made a terrific batch of Jambalaya last night. Yummy. I put shrimp, chicken, and smoked sausage in it.

I also love my Dometic brand freezer. Tonight I'll most likely whip up some spicy peanut chicken for dinner. Steamed broccoli or brussel sprouts to go with it.

I'll be at our south Chicago terminal on 194th street in Glenwood, IL if anyone is hungry.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Make sure you purchase a 12 gauge extension cord, 25 footer should be adequate. Do not get a cheap skinny 16 or 18 gauge cord. Also if you get a microwave, do not buy a 1000 watt one. Get the small 800 watt model. Wow.....Swift axed the driver facing camera and replaced it with an inverter. Nice Trade!!!!

crap - 800 watt microwave? damnit- thats no better then the 700 watt one i currently use ... And i can barely cook frozen dinners meals in that 700 watt. granted the food items won't be as frozen as it would be at home being they're gona be in a 3/4 tall fridge but dang i dunno if the cooking time is gona be increased more sense im only using 700 watts.. I'm not buying another microwave lol.

is it easier to use 12 volt items like coffee pot for making hot tea ( i hate coffee) and cooking pan or crock pot type thing? whats the limits on electrical use ? say charging laptop and cellphone and maybe some tv with a dvd player? perhaps a light ?
