UPDATE: I have now made it to my new hometown of Davenport, IA. I have been accepted into a shelter for the next 90 days as of today. I sure hope God continues to stay with me on this resurrection of my trucking career. Hopefully he makes it work out for me. With the new opportunities now with my relocation, I have added Maverick's Temp Controlled division to my list of hopeful companies. Hopefully someone accepts me now that I have relocated. After 8 mos and 24 days I am finally off of the streets (temporarily for the next 90 days). I got a feeling this is going to work out well for me. Please yall keep praying for me and we can work this together. Thanks so much for all of yalls help. I truly appreciate it.

Yeah I did. Sorry I'm slow to get on that. I've been scrambling here putting together some new stuff we're doing. I'll update your email address now and once you can login with it I'll tell you how to update your password. You can leave the password the same if you like. I can just update the email for ya.

Ok, its all done now. Thanks so much, I appreciate it. A little update for you all:

I am now registered to vote in Iowa. I was at the admin building in Downtown Davenport to turn in my application for my voter registration card (which will give me the 2nd proof of residency I need to change my Florida DL to an Iowa DL) and as I was leaving, I saw a book rack there by the front door and there were 2 copies of the current CDL manual and some Iowa DOT road maps. I asked the sheriff's deputy at the desk if I could have one of each of those and he let me have them. That must have been a sign that the truckin gods are watchin out for me so I can relive my dream here? Do you all think it was divine intervention? I am not sure. Anyway, thanks so much for everything. I can't wait to get back into this.

Brett: As soon as I can get a job so I can start making some money for CDL school, I will get back to work on my High Road Training Program. The move plus trying to find work to save money for CDL school has really put me behind on that and I sincerely do apologize. Now that I have the CDL manual I can couple that with the program and yall's app and really ace those permit tests and endorsement tests the first time. This site truly is a godsend and I thank you and the other moderators for starting it up and keepin it goin. Anyway I finished your book and now that I know the truth, I really wish I had this site to go to the first time I got into trucking. Anyway anytime I meet someone that wants to get into this career, I am going to tell them to come here first. That way they can get the truth from the masters. Thanks again. I sure appreciate it.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OWI:

EPU:

Electric Auxiliary Power Units

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

Another MAJOR update for yall:

As of yesterday, I have now changed over successfully my Florida license to Iowa and I now have the address situation worked out. I have the physical address of the shelter I am staying at on my license and they give me permission to use their place for mail. Hey Brett? Did you get my email with my resume in it? If you have read it, what do you think honestly? Also the entry about my Florida license needs to be changed to Iowa with a actual address. I made the change on the website my resume is stored on, I just need to send you an updated pdf file.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
