Just went through CDL school in Oxford Alabama. Just need to retake the road test. Only problem is the cost of the retake is 120 dollars. Don't want to wait to long to take it again. Is their a way to do it cheaper. Also looking for a good company that does SE. I have been in the military for 12 years got a good driving record.

CDL:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

All I know is that in California we get three tries before we have to pay another fee at the DMV. Are you sure you have to pay another fee?

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

I am not sure about a cheaper way. The school I went to in Tennessee gave us 2 free tries. After that it was $75 to retest.

To the second part of the post. Yet another shameless plug. I guess I should feel bad, but I don't. (In best salesman voice) Look into H. O. Wolding! We have SE Regional. Home every weekend. Mostly will be running loads out of Cherokee, AL. That's right, Alabama. We got beautiful blue trucks with auto greasers and pre oilers. We have military apprenticeship. Use your G I Bill to boost your income. Need a company with the stability of a large corporation with the family atmosphere of a mom n pop. We have only 1 terminal but 350 trucks on the road. Here are Wolding we never forget that "Your Success Drives Us!"

Drive Safe and God Speed.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

In Kentucky they give 4 attempts before you repay the fee.
