Folks, this is why we don't discuss leasing. It inevitably descends into an emotional debate devoid of facts and logic.

OK, as someone who is still entering the industry, I have to say, that sometimes I feel like I am being treated as a mindless idiot, who doesn't know up from down.

Is it a dream of mine to one day own several trucks? Yes, but that is so far in the future, I don't really give it any thought. Do I like to see the various opinions on different subjects? Yes, definitely. I totally understand the unspoken rule of not discussing leasing or owning a truck. As a not yet new driver, it is good to know other veteran drivers are looking put for my welfare, and helping me get a good start in this industry.

However, Brett, we are mostly all adults here, and we can make up our own minds, we don't need to be pampered. If a new driver decides to go l/o and fails, it wasn't because they weren't warned. Some people, just need to learn on their own, the hard way. Daniel B. For the duration of time he leased, was successful, he accomplished his personal goals with it. I in way read his comments, like you did. Yes, someone else might. But you failed to see that he still encourages going company. He never said, "Hey, do what I did, and you can succeed too!" He gave a personal example of his own experience, while still cautioning against it. I am grateful for that. Same with Salty dog. I love being able to see that side of the industry, and the pitfall, and how the added stress can ruin a person. And also how they overcome, and dealt with it. It reaffirms my decision to stay company for at least 5 to 10 years. A LOT, would need to fall in place, perfectly, for me to consider taking the leap. Yes it is a dream, but as a former business owner, I may never take that leap.

Old School, my first restaurant I owned, I had 2 class b food trucks, and 3 deliver vans, on the catering side. I eventually sold it all to a friend, who immediately sold the vehicles. But I don't go around saying I owned a fleet of "trucks" so I know how being a o/o or l/o is. You had a company, that had trucks, yes. But sometimes it seems that you are misleading in how you have described it in the past, to various people asking about the lease issue, before it became a taboo issue.

I greatly respect both you, and Brett, and Daniel B., Gtown, and the others. It pains me to see this petty bickering, and you trying to belittle Daniel B's accomplishment. He did it, successfully, albeit for only a short time, but he still did it. Would he have been able to keep that success indefinitely? No one knows, and at best we can only speculate. Let's say out of 100 people going to the l /o, o/o side, for over a year, maybe 5 make it a success. He might have been 1 of that number. But he still says go company. And then he says why. As do some other drivers I have talked with. To me, that is more valuable than someone who has never done it, saying the same thing. Even with numbers, and stats, etc on their side.

That is all I have to say, since I have to get back to work.

Stay safe
