You may be able to unhook the gps the company installs but tractors now use gps to help control cruise control trying to disable that without anyone noticing.
Telemetry is also highly integrated into elogs...these systems have multiple tamper detection functions and points that will issue a series of real-time alerts in the event of any interruption of communication.
I highly discourage anyone from attempting to disconnect any of these devices unless directed by a DM or other manager (like for a hard reboot). You will be caught and without question terminated. I've seen it happen twice in the last 18 months. Not worth risking your career for what may only amount to a prank.
OmniTRACS or McLeod is installed on most of the larger carrier's trucks. I am most familiar with OmniTRACS. Click on the below link.
A device which records the amount of time a vehicle has been driven. If the vehicle is not being driven, the operator will manually input whether or not he/she is on duty or not.
Elogs:
Electronic Onboard Recorder
Electronic Logbook

Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
TWIC:
Transportation Worker Identification Credential
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
