I really don't know how you can check them out, other than the BBB....hope someone can help ya.
Hey Justin. I've heard of that school but I don't know much about em. I do however know how to evaluate a school and we have a series of articles on just that. You can find those here:
How To Choose A Truck Driving School
I will say this...the main two things you'll want to look for is:
1) Do major companies hire their students? Get a list of major companies that hire their students, then go home and call some of those companies yourself to verify that. If so, then you know the school is at least a legitimate candidate for consideration.
2) How do the current students feel about the school? When you go for a visit, make sure you get some time alone with a few of the students to find out their thoughts on the schooling. When someone pays good money to attend a school, they're more than happy to let others know how they feel about it.
So if major companies hire from the school, the visit with the school goes well, and the current students seem pretty happy with it, you've got a legitimate candidate for your list of schools to consider.
Definitely read through those articles though. There's a lot of insights into the process of choosing the right truck driving school.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Dear Justin,
I'm currently taking truck driving lessons at Dootson in Arcadia,CA and its a school that gives ya just enough skill to get your class A license. When I get mine I will still need advanced training from an employer who does that. They're flexible with your schedule. My lessons are on Sundays, while other students have different schedules. The lessons are private, so when Im in the truck Im driving, not watching some one else drive.
You can google their web site and get more info.
Evidently recruiters from major truck companies recruit students from there, as theres signs in the training room from their companies, like Swift, Schneider, CR England and others.
So far I'm happy with them.
I know I'm very late to reply, but I attended Dootson School of Trucking, and i personally think its a great school, Rudy teaches the students about pretrip inspections which he does with finees, I had mark as an instructor, also a great instructor, I did the behind the wheel and everything else with him, only went there for a few weeks before getting my class A cdl license, if you have any questions about the place just let me know.
