Where do you live at, conservative. Based on where exactly you live, (town is fine) your opportunities may vary.

McElroy trains brand new cdl holders for flatbed. West side also trains... No company school though. I can't see how flatbed could ever haul alcohol. Just a thought.

You totes could haul alcohol on a flatbed. Though it might not be the sort for consumption.

Conservative, I had some similar concerns as far as schedule and it just so happens that I spent some time today on the phone with a recruiter from McElroy. As was stated previously, it is Saturday that you are guaranteed not to work. I was told you would get home on Friday evenings and depending on time/distance of your delivery for Monday, you might have to start your run on Sunday. I am assuming you probably wouldn't have to head out before Sunday afternoon sometime, but her exact words were we "don't guarantee you can make your church services on Sunday".

Hope this helps.

Conservative, I am not trying to be offensive, but why no alcohol? I totally get the Sunday thing. No Alcohol tends to be a Muslim restriction. Christians have a long standing history with alcohol. Part of communion is drinking wine. I am just curious is all. Sorry, if I was getting too personal.

The LDS church also prohibits alcohol amog their members, along with caffeine, nicotine, and basically any other stimulant or narcotic that isn't required in a life-saving manner (e.g. morphine in the ER).

Many many MANY years ago, I worked as a server at Denny's, and there was a young Mormon girl there who wouldn't serve any if her guests beer or wine. If she had a guest who ordered it, one of the other servers had to bring it to the table.

There is not much theology discussed here. But to help your understanding, here is my short explanation.

There are many ways to understand the Bible's teachings. That's why you get so many different churches, from Catholic to Methodist to Baptist to Mennonite and so on. I got an explanation from a person I knew who worked in a grocery store. My friend objected to the manager that they did not like to take care of the wine/ whiskey/ beer department for this reason:

There are conservative groups that believe very strongly that they should avoid helping others to sin. Since consuming alcohol can lead to sin, a believer should not help another person to go down that path.

As for sacramental wine, there are Christian denominations that use grape juice. They will argue, and I'm skipping the details, that grape juice is more correct than wine for communion.

It is a great feature of the Trucking Truth forum that I have seen very few personal attacks on personal beliefs. I hope we can keep it that way.

along with caffeine

Unrelated, sort of, but the LDS faith does allow caffeine.

I am not very religious obviously. I forget certain Christian denominations, are so... strict. I am non big on alcohol personally, but I have my own reasons. As far as those that choose to imbibe. It is their life.

HOS:

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OOS:

Didn't the bible mention something about Jesus turning water into Wine?
