Josh, youll go with separate trainers and then join back up when you are ready to be a team.
Teaming has a lot of issues that go along with it. I don't recommend it to new drivers. You say you're doing it to get more miles, but any good solid solo driver can get all kinds of miles. The problem with being a new driver is not whether you can get the miles, but whether you can consistently perform under the pressure of having a lot of miles.
A lot of people fail at this as newbies. It's not a matter of whether they could do the job or not, but more so that they had no clue what they were up against when they started.
Here's some good things for you to look at and start getting your mind wrapped around this career. We will help you any way we can, and welcome you into our forum!

Thanks for the response, we both feel pretty confident about our abilities. I see where fatigue and the stresses of not knowing the ins and outs could pose a problem. I'll keep that in mind during training and then we'll make a final decision. We start school June 3rd and it can't get here fast enough! Thanks again.

Myself and a friend are about to start cdl training. We're looking to be a team for a little while. How does that work? Do we go with the trainer then team up? Is team really worth it? We're mostly doing it to get more miles in our first year to gain the experience.
