The best truck stop is one I find a parking space at, the worst one is full already.
Bud, as has been said before, you missed your calling!
I also have spent some time in our nation's military, however not a soldier but rather a Marine. I enjoy cleanliness just as much as the next person but a beard or tattoos have nothing to do with how clean one is. You should be aware that there are many ex-cons driving truck, as in most other careers. I would be one myself had I been caught while living the fast life. For being a soldier you come across rather weak. Where do you come off calling anybody with a job a peon? Who exactly do you think you are? I know you sure Ain't Ready to be a Marine Yet. To answer your question, you can meet people from all walks of life at truck stops throughout this country, some have better food and facilities than others but they all offer you a spot to park your truck and lay your head. However, I strongly recommend you only visit in a car and stay out of this profession, peon.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Gentlemen, let's not sink to his level as tempting as it may be.
However, I am a local city driver hauling hazmat gasoline to gas stations. Scratch that off your list too my friend - you wouldn't stomach some of the disgusting, strange-colored, stinky things I get to handle.
Yes, I get to go home each day but ask my wife what kind of additional stuff she has to use in the laundry machine because of my work clothes I take home with me. Good luck, don't let the germs get to ya!
Also, A+ troll you won the internet.
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
My niece on my sister's side is a germaphobe. She's had a bottle of hand sanitizer on her key chain at least as long as she's been a mother. She wouldn't be caught dead in a truck stop bathroom.
My great niece on my brother's side is more on the slovenly side. She started carrying sanitizer on her key chain last summer, after she started riding in her dad's semi. I never made the connection before today.
You should let them know that over use of sanitizer or alcohol actually is less effective than you think. You have natural bacteria on your skin that your hand sanitizer kills and when you kill it it leaves your skin open for infestation of other bacteria..
I feel like if you haven't taken Organic Chem but still call yourself germaphobic your just paranoid.

You're right about this Cwc. Some people's use of sanitizers borders on ADHD or whatever, and to what effect? I'm no germaphobe, but I'd wager people like this get sick just as much or more than everyone else. You remember Gallagher's line about chemicals in food and hot dogs? Lol.
For the record, though, I do carry with me a spray bottle of natural sanitizer for those occasional visits to j-johns. That's a different scenario than hand washing.
The couple local jobs I've had were slip seat trucks. Many times you can smell the last drivers funk. They probably sneezing and coughing all over the dash all shift. As an OTR driver you get an assigned truck that nobody else enters.
Just thought I'd point out that slip seat trucks can be pretty nasty. Some drivers probably relieving themselves right there in the drivers seat into a Gatorade bottle. Think about that as your eating your lunch in the truck to avoid the restaurant.
No disrespect to local drivers as I've been there done that, you just can't control who drives the rig before you.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
I'd like to add that being a exposed to germs actually builds up your immunity, especially when a person is in their infancy. If you were raised in a sterile environment like I assume you were, then the odds of you getting sick from the germs from all the truck stops or public areas are exponentially higher than others.

Exactly why over use of hand sanitizer is a bad thing.

Has anyone missed the fact that all of us gross dirty truck drivers haul the produce and food?
What exactly does he think he is eating? Yeah.,.I could wipe stuff on all the unwrapped produce in my trailer before I out the load locks on.
What about the bugs crawling on a the produce before it is even picked????
Don't get me started on chicken and cow feces ....
