Try living in New Jersey, lol, whenever i come off home time of about to go on it I usually have a load or relay headed to North Jersey, when i left this week I went to Carteret, then to Vermont to deliver, then picked up another load there and headed back to Jersey in Keasby, delivered and then picked up in South River and headed to PA, lol, its no fun at all around there. My first week out solo i was sent to Kearny, Nj at around 1500 or 1600on a Wednesday afternoon, that was super fun, lol.

Interestingly this is a t called load meaning someone else was suppose to take this load in but couldn't because he had truck issues

I lost count a long time ago how many times I have been in PA or Upstate NY and had dispatch ask me to take a load into NJ or NYC because a driver mysteriously broke down or suddenly got sick or ran out of hours 50 or 100 miles short of the destination. Eastern Pennsylvania is like the Bermuda Triangle of trucking. Somehow, mysteriously, an inordinate number of trucks break down or logbooks run out of hours when things had gone so smoothly for 500 or 1000 miles up to that point. Amazing how that works.

Yes, drivers lie like that all the time to get out of taking loads to NJ or NYC. They'll haul a load from St Louis, or Chicago, or Oklahoma all the way to Eastern PA to make all of the easy money and then try to dump the hard part on someone else.

Logbook:

A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.

Aaron, don't be accepting loads if you don't have the hours to complete it.

This is exactly how you end up on your DM's bad driver list. Bad bad bad

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I need to learn to check my hours but usually when I get down to about 14 hours left of my 70, recaps start coming in.

That was the only reason I went ahead and did them this favor but my recaps didn't start until I was down to five hours which I wasn't expecting.

I really have to watch my hours.

I am on my way to the Bronx. I will get there sometime before 1am sunday morning and after I leave tell u guys how I did.

Funny because I live in chicago and those streets and traffic are bad too but NY is a different animal. Kinda nervous.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I forgot to update this.

I did it with no issues. Well I went to the wrong address but where I needed to go was only a few blocks down the road.

Lots of signs pointing me in the right direction but you still need to be careful driving out there. Very tight quarters even at the reciever I went to. It was pan hellanic.

I really don't want to go back but if I had to I will. Just plan plan plan and u will be okay.

That's great news! You've done something a lot of drivers never do -- driving in NYC. Good job!
