I'm with Errol on this, Harbor Freight Mechanics Gloves are really good. The fuel gloves have a rubberized coating on the palms. I haven't bought new gloves in almost two years...

Flashlight: 6-8" size. It used to be the 2 C-cell size, but LED lights mostly use AA batteries.
Don't go wild about gloves. My "mechanics" good later almost a year. Day "Hello" to the cashiers at Harbor Freight for me.

At H.F. get a large ball pein hammer (not a claw hammer) for bumping tires.
PPE: A Class II safety vest (reflector stripes) is very useful and may be required. You may go to a place that requires safety glasses. I bought a safety helmet, but in two years I've only had to wear it once. None of this is really expensive.
