Cwc... I noticed you list Norfolk on your profile. Where do you park your rig on home time? I've been using Frank's Truck Stop in Chesapeake when I visit my mother in Norfolk... but, it would be nice to have another option.
I live in Chesapeake as well. When I had to drop a trailer when I was with JB Hunt (not allowed just anywhere with Prime), I would drop @ Big Charlie's on North Hampton Blvd. It's a pay to stay ($10/day), but I would get that back from JB. If you pay for 4 or more days, you got 7 for the price of 4 (3 days free for every 4 you bought). Big Charlie's is across the street from Aberdeen Barn steak house.

I normally go to Franks.. Charlie's is closer but it's a pain to get out of at times and is more urban/town I like the country... less to worry about.
But I hear Chesapeake has a mall close to a Wal-Mart... Which happens to be near one of the clinics my wife works at.... so please check it out however keep it clean..

Also.. while the above looks really good "And is really good" if and when something happens in N. Korea. BTC will turn upside down. May stay that way for an hour or a year... but it will go back up again.

And yes it sucks to have to pay to go home but it's nice to know your truck will still be there when you get back to it.

Yes, just up I-664 at Portsmouth Blvd exit. There is a Walmart, Sam's Club and the mall. Going north from Frank's 1st Portsmouth blvd exit, coming south 2nd Portsmouth Blvd exit. I see lots of trucks there on the weekends. Walmart and Sam's Club has security camera's, so that would be your best bet.

I have been researching companies again and noticed J&R Schugel is a 100% employee-owned transportation company. Would this be like investing in stocks if working for this company?

Really depends on how they award it and also how they word the contract for it.. think CRST backwards... Totally Should Read Contract...
But I've gotta ask... Why a trucking company? With everything Brett has written on staying away from being an owner operator specifically due to how small the profit margin in trucking Is?
And yes large companies do manage to make a decent profit but not compared to many many other publicly traded companies.
Just asking and I'm not knocking it just curious.
An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.
Employee owned companies such as PTL, for example, once you reach a certain number of years with the company you become "vested". Once Vested you can buy stock in the company. These companies do not publically trade their stock. They sell stock to employees only. By selling stock they raise capital to help continue growth. You get returns on your stock investment from annual net profit.
As example at one time WalMart used to be employee owned. A lot of companies that are too small to be traded on either the NYSE or Nasdaq, forego being publically traded on either the OTCBB or Pink Slips. Instead gain capitalization by employee ownership. Many companies choose to stay private and not hold an IPO to gain enough capitalization to achieve listing requirements.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Anyone can trade Bitcoin. Even in a truck.
No offense intended, Cwc, but I'd definitely invest in trucking before risking money in the Btc market. Heck, I'd trade commodities on the Chicago exchange before I'd do that, I think.
None taken but I have trouble finding stocks of nearly any sort that I can buy into in the 300s and sell @1200. Or more recently 600-900 and sold@1777.
Day trading it is where my money is generally made... larger portions are far and fewer between but looking at the above... I didn't do to bad in the longer rums either. Both examples were less than a year between buying and selling.. You'll be hard pressed to find that kind of action on most of the exchanges... don't forget to add in your trade or broker fees going that route either.
So to make my point from an earlier post. 2ish weeks ago BTC was around 1777. Per BTC and now 2ish weeks later it's 2406. For those that can't math😁 629 per BTC. I'm not sure if I mentioned that I normally do 3BTC trades at a time and normally only "play" with 9BTC total in the short game so 629x3=1887x3=5661.
My sailboat is getting closer and closer.
Yeah, well some people get lucky in Vegas, some go broke, and some do one then the other. Don't count your chickens just yet.......you're playing Vegas style is all you're doing and you're on the right side of luck. You didn't know that was gonna do that any more than anyone else did. And you don't know what it's gonna do next any more than anyone else does. It's not where you buy, it's not where you hold, it's where you sell. Cash out, then count your chickens. If you're gonna ride it out, I'd do it silently.
