There is hope!!! I have adhd and as a result have had a checkered employment past. I finally looked into trucking. Honestly, i didn't list every employer. I got a couple of good opportunities. It did not seem to matter too much to them that my employment past wasn't that great. Keep trying. For a person who struggled with jobs, trucking has been a godsend and a great fit for me. I'm thriving in it. It's not easy getting through schooling, but determination pays off. Keep trying for sure! There's a huge demand for drivers out there.

i’ve also had bad employment history, mostly my jobs in fast food, cleaning , fast food i can not stay at leadt 6 months i dont like working fast food specially in the kitchen, cleaning was ok but i dont want to do it anymore , im a cdl class 1a holder up here in canada in Regina Saskatchewan and i’ve been looking to join a company that has driver finishing program, their application form need a 10 year work history so, ok im gunna hold it for now to apply for a trucking job then cause my dad doesn’t want me to do otr right now anyways, so im gunna look for a job, alternative to trucking for the moment my goal is to at least stay as long as i can till im ready, i got my cdl Class 1a in apr.2016 but have limited experience or little experience so yeah, thank u for the great tip Ms. Kearsey..

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
