Nevada Truck Driving school in Reno Nevada is a good one...I went there....friendly folks and very helpful and took my CDL driving test there.......Still had to go to DMV for the written ....which is done on a computer.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.
I went through TDI (Truck Driver Institute) in Florida and a couple of the instructors were DOT certified examiners and they tested us. I think a lot of schools do that because it probably is more cost-effective for the states to not have to pay examiners to sit around waiting for test takers to show up once a week or two.
Good luck.

Why don't you want to go to the DMV/DOT to test?

I just started at Bevill State Tech in Alabama and they have an actual DOT office on campus. The price isn't too bad either. About $1400 plus $200 odd for your physical, drug test, and permit.

From what I understand the Florida CDL schools almost all do on site testing. If they dont I wouldn't worry about dealing with the DMV. Every CDL school I looked at set up your appointment so all you really do is just drive to the test site and drive the school's truck(when you are ready).

I'm looking to get into trucking with my husband, but I want to find a school that does on-site road tests instead of going to the DMV/DPS. Anybody know of any good schools that offer this? I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but am willing to go elsewhere. Thank you.
