This is pretty cool. I doubt I'll get up there, but you never know.
I'd be up for an interview, but I'm pretty boring. My wife is a lot more fun to talk to, so if you want to do something about how great it is to have your husband away most of the time, I'm reasonably sure she would cooperate.
Now for the weird part. Once I had a dream that I delivered a load on a flatbed to your place. I was like, Hey, Brett, here's your stuff. I'm Bud A. from Trucking Truth, by the way. You were like, we're gonna unload it over here. It was like, great, some guy from the internet just drove up to my place. The rooster was walking around in the dream, too. That's all I remember. I don't know what the dream means, but I also don't think dreams usually mean something haha.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Bud, that whole dream story is hilarious! You even got the rooster in there - dreams can be strange things. You definitely gave me a chuckle with that one.

I get up that way every once in a blue moon, but I seem to spend most of my time in the Midwest
We've had some disagreements and I've ticked you off a couple times but it doesn't mean I don't have respect for you and what you've done putting together a great website. I'd gladly buy lunch and chill for a few but under one condition, you have to bring the furbaby too because pets can never get enough attention
Yep, no way I'll even consider it unless I get to meet his better half. LOL!

I took one step a little closer. I made it to NY state. I sitting at a 'text break' off of 86. I deliver tomorrow in Waterford. Then I will probably have to go find a truck stop for a 34 close by the area. Since I am running my 70 out (more or less) on this run. I won't get a recap until Thursday So either way I am stuck sitting in NY state for Wednesday.
The only time I get that way is when I'm running a Ben and Jerrys run from St Albans Vermont to Henderson Nv which is usually in the summer. I'll look you up if I take that run.

Heh, I get a lot of runs out of that Americold in Henderson going back up into WA and OR. Who knows, we may have even crossed paths before.
I was running up there everyday until about two weeks ago. I'd run to Champlain and points in between to pick up LTL import freight. That ended due to manpower. They need me back in the Albany area.
To anyone heading up the north way, there are three points of interest I'd like to bring to your attention. 1. Exit 9 rest area, which also serves as a NYS DOT Imspection site, High Peaks rest area...North Hudson mm100 and just south of Peru...exit 35 is a inspection site. They are all pretty active this time of year.
I ran 9N into the Lake Placid/Saranac lake area. That's where you may find some nice terrain. Have you seen the Chasm yet? Should be right around the corner from you.
Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.
LTL carriers include:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Well, you know I don't get out much anymore! Who knows though--been thinking about doing otr again next year. If I ever get out there I'll let you know!
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

I responded to your email just now.
Hey, you're really growing mellow in your old age. That's a lot better than your former serious but impolite tone. I never did get together with Old School either, but I hope to. I don't think you'll be coming out this way anytime soon, and I don't think I'll be getting out that way this year, but some rock climbing trips out West are absolutely in the cards for me at some point. I don't know when that might be, but I know the general area you're in!
Those both sound like great ideas to me. I always have my buddy with me if at all possible. He hates being left home as much as I hate leaving him home. I keep the back seat of the pickup flipped up so he can walk around back there and take naps if I have to leave him in the truck while I go inside. I take him hiking up into the mountains and everything. In fact, the other morning we drove an hour to go hiking and he wasn't feeling well so we came home. I didn't even want to go without him. We'll be taking that same trip again Wednesday, he seems to be feeling up to it now.
Let me know if you get out this way.
