On our way to California we stopped at a little mom and pop truck stop in Plateau TX just before you get to Van Horn and inside there was a little mexican diner, nothing fancy, but the food was absolutely incredible. I'm sure you've all been to your local mexican restaurant and ordered your favorite plate of what not and when home thinking it was good but not great, I know I have. This place had the best mexican food I've ever tasted and I can assure you when im traveling across I-10 this place is going to be a regular stop. There was even an old Swift driver sitting at the counter telling me this is the only place he stops at when he's in west Texas. CHECK IT OUT!!
My trainer stopped there when I was in TNT and didn't wake me up. Later when I woke up, he kept raving about the food and told me how his trainer showed him that place. I said thanks for waking me up lol.
A year later I was out in that area and asked him where it was, so he made up for it. It is good food.
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14ยข per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
Ya know you could be on to something here. I think its would be awesome to have a thread of different places we all have been that have had good food it would be alot more efficient than trying to keep up with all the food shows on the travel channel! CITY BBQ in Louisville Kentucky!
A town in same area (Van Horn tx) has a Mexican food joint that the football great John Madden would frequent. Madden NEVER flew on planes so it was a bus for him... This place has a table set aside to this day, roped off with extra large chair, named the "Madden Table".... Forget the restaurant name..Also good food!.. My wife's from Mexico so we're lucky plus she's taught me well...
In Appleton, WI there is a diner on West Wisconsin Ave. It has about 20 spots for trucks out back. It is on Trucker Path app.
