I'm just getting into trucking and according to this article I better play it smart and prepare for the worst. I may only have a decade before the robots replace us.

GREETINGS Adam S.,
No need to be concerned about robots replacing you. Trucking will most likely be "conquered" LAST.
Self driving cars are still driving into solid objects as well other self driving cars, so No Worries Mate! CHEERS!!
I think those numbers are way over estimated, it will be atleast a quarter century before trucks go complete driverless! You'll be ok driver, continue to do your job right and show them why they'll always need us!
*Cheers* Blakowt
My thought about this, for whatever its worth, is a driverless truck cannot do a proper pre-trip inspection.
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

Paul F, that's a good point! Made me laugh! Course these trucks will probably inspect themselves by using cameras and automation. But as others have said, it's probably at least a decade down the road before the technology is useful.

That would have to be one hell of a software program behind it to account for every possible scenario. And the truck would also have to be self cleaning. With all of the road dust, dirt, mud slung back by other vehicles when it rains, those cameras wouldn't be very dependable.
I wouldn't believe all of the hype.... I don't even know if it would be possible at all to tell you the truth.
