You should consider yourself lucky that it was not in Rainy's dungeon that you were locked in lol ..... your cargo would have never made it to its destination. rofl-1.gifrofl-1.gifrofl-1.gifrofl-1.gif

Just be careful with the 94 to 80/90 exchange in Indiana. I was there 2-3 weeks ago and that exit was closed to get into 80/90 from 94, I'm assuming the same back as well.

Also 80 in Indiana was down to one lane traffic.

There will be a back up there if this is still going on. Once you get about 50-60 miles east into Indiana the traffic let up, but it was later in the day. Afternoon rush. The construction was one lane almost the entire state.

Earlier this afternoon, at around 1400 or so, there was a truck broke down on 80/94 eastbound in the 3rd lane just past the Cline Ave exit (5) in IN, I think it was at like MM 10 or something. I hopped on exit 5 and scooted over to our terminal in Gary and waited it out. Came back 2 hours later and got right on rolling going about 45 for like 10m before opening up all the way.

Unholychaos: Where did you go to get your CDL? The hometown you have listed on your profile here is about 100 mi away from where I am living now and there is a community college there in your hometown that contracts out to Werner or its one of Werner's approved schools. Do you have any information on them or did you go through them? Its called Indian Hills Community College and their CDL campus is located in Ottumwa, IA.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

90, 290, 294, 80, 94 worked out great. It was far less painful than I anticipated. I think I only lost maybe 15-20 minutes to traffic holdups. Not bad for rush hour. Heck, I lose more time than that just trying to park at a good bbq joint.

Thanks again peeps

I did in fact get it from Indian Hills in Ottumwa. Program is 6 weeks 4 days a week or 9 weeks 2 days a week for the weekend class, about $3400 or so for the course. The instructor is Rick Simpson, email richard.simpson@indianhills.edu. Shoot him an email for inquires. Tell him Corey Sharp sent ya. I'm one of his success stories (at least I like to think I am).

I'll be coming in on 90 east from Wisconsin. Destination is Watervliet, MI. I estimate I'll be hitting the greater Chicago area 0700ish. I know this sucks but I gotta do it. My company routing as well as my RM730 wants me to stay on 90, then up 94.

I'm thinking 90, 290, 355, 80, 294, 94

What say ye, oh wise ones? What would be the least painful route through this lovely area?
