Today was the day. I upgraded this morning at the Lancaster terminal.
The upgrade process is simple and straightforward. They double checked my hours and paperwork and then had me take their written test.
The written test is 57 questions primarily based on a list of macros and a load assignment they give you.
Once you pass the written test you go on to the driving test and then the backing test. The backing test was just a straight line back. Like i said it was pretty much straightforward and they clearly explained the steps.
Once you pass you go down to truck assignment and start that process. It sounded like if you were trying to get an automatic you were out of luck here. Thankfully I tested out in a manual so I was able to get a truck.
Once you get your assignment you go and inspect the truck. Make sure you're not missing anything and you note any damage. I took it a step further and took pictures of any damage.
Now I am relaxing. Im going to get some sleep and go pick up my load in the morning.
Thank you to everyone that has read, commented, advised, and supported me through this journey.
Terminal:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
