FWIW, I've always used imgur to host any pics I put up here with zero problems. They even have an app...not that I've ever used it. I just point my mobile version of Chrome to their website, upload the image, and C&P the direct link into the appropriate field.
And for those who don't know, you can also email any photos you have to photos@photos.truckingtruth.com and they'll go straight into your image gallery
Thanks for this Brett, I appreciate it. I had to play around with Google+ to try to get my photo of my hat on here for my diary. I wish I had known this sooner.
Oh well, I know now.
Thought I subscribed to this topic. What is going on with the links?
Well it seems Photobucket suddenly decided that anyone who is going to share their photos on other websites will now have to pay $400 per year to do so. Obviously that's ridiculous.
This is SO true. The way I see things, If its not 100% FREE, NO STRINGS ATTACHED, I DON'T USE IT.

Oh, it must have been the computer that made the mistake. I'll yell at it for you.
Ok. I emailed two photos to my gallery. How exactly do I make one of them my avatar? 🙄

ROFL......Thanks Brett, I appreciate it.

Is it the one I chose? If not, click on your name under your current avatar. That will take you to your profile. Scroll down to where you see your two photos. Right click on the one you want to use, choose "select image address" (or something similar to that), and paste it higher up on the page where it shows the box for your avatar address. Hopefully that wasn't too confusing.

I made a free site on wordpress to host my images.

Well it seems Photobucket suddenly decided that anyone who is going to share their photos on other websites will now have to pay $400 per year to do so. Obviously that's ridiculous. That means a lot of our images are temporarily broken in the forum, but alas, I have a solution. Fortunately I saw this possibility coming years ago. I made our own copy of every photo you guys shared in our forum and put them in our photo gallery. I'm almost certain I can write up some code wizardry to replace the forum versions with their photo gallery counterparts and fix the whole thing in one fell swoop.
The one thing I will not likely be able to fix is your avatar. I did not make duplicate copies of those. But the tons and tons of photos you all shared, like in the Flatbed Variety thread for instance, I have duplicates of all of em. They're not in the original size, but they're still pretty darn large, like 900px by 800px or so. And of course your originals are still on Photobucket, but they're now imprisoned there unfortunately.
I'm in the process of moving our system to a new host and it's not far from being complete. So this came at an awkward time but it's no big whoop. Do what you guys can to replace your avatars temporarily or I'll plug something in for you.
I'm building a photo upload feature into the website so from now on you will be able to upload your photos if you like.
And for those who don't know, you can also email any photos you have to photos@photos.truckingtruth.com and they'll go straight into your image gallery. Pretty neat trick, eh? Just make sure you email those photos from the same email account you signed up here with. So if your avatar suddenly disappeared just email a photo to the above email address and they'll go into your gallery. You can then use them from your gallery for your avatar.
Sorry they up and decided to do this to you guys but hey, we'll get it all straightened out and continue on with the same photos in place and an even better system for uploading them in the future.
That's how we roll.
