These days every day is the Fourth of July for me. My son is currently deployed to Afghanistan flying Apache helicopters against the Taliban and anyone else who dares to raise a rifle against Americans.
First thing when I wake up every day I raise the American flag.
We've always been a patriotic, military-supporting family going back generations, but having a son currently in combat does an amazing job of heightening sensibilities in that regard. I'm so proud of him, but I'm also a nervous father.
Anybody who has a mind to, please pray for his safe return.
I most certainly will and next time you talk to or see your son, tell him we all said thanks for your service. 😜🇺🇸
.....AND DONNA ....
Please thank your family from 'usn's' here, as well~!!!

My son in-law is overseas doing 18 months he flies helicopters too but I thought they were black hawks. This is like his 4th time over there . His first time going he had to leave two days after my granddaughter (his first child) was born. He had more devotion than I believe I could have had. My Grandfather was killed on D day and my Great uncle was captured in the Philippines and spent 6 years as a POW in Japan. I don’t any of us should take our freedom for grant. I always love the fireworks! But was in Little Rock last night and saw “none”.
