The headsets cover only one ear ;). Google blue tiger or blue parrot and you will see.
The radios have an audio in jack too. But I've had two cascadias and both had the USB port
Of course, music will not be heard in STEREO with a phone for one ear only. I prefer STEREO music to be heard over the loudspeakers in a vehicle anyway.
The single earphone might be good for talking: two-way voice communications in the cab. Hands-free commo is preferred.
Oscar, some of the best experiences I've had driving involved listening to Merle Haggard as I drove through Muskogee, Fresno, or Bakersfield. The Eagles have a good song for driving on I-40 in eastern Arizona, too.
I used to have Spotify premium and would plug in my phone to the radio to play it over the stereo. These days I listen to local stations, but generally only if I'm a little sleepy.
I love me some Old School and Oscar.

Yes, I have a lot to learn about what really goes on inside a REAL commercial truck on a REAL American road. I have been romanced for decades about truck songs and truck movies. I am sure every red-blooded American boy wanted to be a trucker after CW McCall's "Convoy" was released in late 1975.
My music collection sits at about 42,000 songs. Been collecting for a long time, Everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top. I'm notorious for raiding friends CD collections, to upload into my itunes (I rip and encode myself for best quality, at a decently small size). Stored on 2 backup drives and the cloud (400GB of it). I like Pandora - because I can plug in an artist I like, and find another 10 of a similar genre that I didn't even know I liked. Especially in the Progressive/Jazz vein. It's expanded my musical horizons greatly. And while there are many great country artists - just not my thing (neither is rap or hiphop thankfully).
Headphones (that cover BOTH EARS) are actually ILLEGAL in many states. Here's a list from AAA, for state by state laws on headphones (with exceptions for 1 ear headsets in most cases).
FMCSA also has regulations regarding mobile devices, so be careful fiddling with that mobile device, looking for that perfect song, while you're driving.
FMSCA regs DO NOT SPECIFICALLY PROHIBIT headphones:
Question 7: Are drivers prohibited from using CB radios and earphones?
Guidance: No. CB radios and earphones are not prohibited under the regulations, as long as they do not distract the driver and the driver is capable of complying with ยง391.41(b)(11).

The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
The FMCSA was established within the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000. Their primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries.
What Does The FMCSA Do?
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

I agree completely. I'll plug in one song I like as a station and I get a stream of great music I never would have found any other way in a million years. I have to get back to using Pandora more. I always forget about it somehow.
I love snowboarding, and snowboarding almost requires some air guitar tunes. It's all about adrenaline, really. I'd say 90% of my snowboarding playlist was discovered on Pandora. Mostly obscure bands with one or two songs that fit perfectly into what I'm looking for.
Pandora's algorithms are remarkably good. I'm always amazed at how similar the songs are to the one I plugged in.
And for the record, I listened to music going down the road pretty rarely. I'd say maybe 5% - 10% of the time. I would listen to talk shows maybe 15% - 20% of the time. The problem is that listening to music and talk radio wears you out. Your brain can only take so much input and do so much work before it needs a break. When you sit back and enjoy the silence and let your mind relax you stay awake and alert much longer. It also makes driving far more meditative, which is quite enjoyable.
Music and coffee are fantastically helpful to your alertness and your enjoyment of driving if used at the right times in the right quantities, but if overused they become a hinderance and wear you down quickly. It doesn't take long to figure that out once you've been out there a short time.

I used to do Sirius - for the Patriot Channel mostly (conservative - sue me). Frequent caller on a number of shows - Wilkow, Levin & David Webb - I think their screeners bumped me to the top - because (like here) I'm pretty well versed in my interests (foreign/middle east policy, economics, & 2A policy).
I found some really good stuff plugging in artists I like on Pandora. Allan Holdsworth, turned me onto a bunch of really cool (yet never heard on commercial radio) folks. Having worked in the "Jam Band Scene" (road manager, manager, sound/recording engineer), I'm pretty plugged in there (but there is only ONE GRATEFUL DEAD - and what they're slinging now without Jerry IS NOT The Grateful Dead, no matter how hard they try).
Lot's of times when road tripping though - I just like the quiet of the road. But I buy the 128GB Iphone (and iPad). The phone is stuffed with 5,000 songs, and the iPad has some of my movie collection (2,400 in that - yes I download - sue me).

Rick, you may already know this, but a few months ago I was in California and I came across a stretch of highway that was dedicated as a memorial to Jerry Garcia. I wanted to go back so I could stop and get a picture of the sign, but I ended up dispatched in another direction for my back haul load. He was such a talented man.
I love me some Old School and Oscar.

There's not Mich romantic about grease on all your clothes, diesel smell even when you wear gloves, and being late for loads.
The movies are bull, but I love it.
