I think you're out of luck. I think the most you can run from a cigarette lighter plug is about 200 watts.
As we all know, P=IE (watts = volts times amps), so to get 1200 watts at 12V you'd need more than 100 amps, and i think the max you can get from a cigarette lighter plug is 15.
Not going to happen... most you can get is around 260-300 watts. to figure out what your 12v outlet can put out you need to take the 12v then multiply it by the # of amps fuse it has. usually it's around a 20 amp fuse so 12 x 20 = 240 watts. even though there's 300 watt 12v inverter and even 400 unless you have a fuse that can do that much you won't get it and going much past 20amp fuses you are risking a fire because the wiring was not designed for that much power. you would need a hire gauge wire installed on top of hire amp fuse. your company will probably allow a direct to battery inverter before they re-ire your truck haha
To power a 1200W skillet you WILL need around a 1500W hard wired inverter. Not much way around that. Remember when you first turn on an electrical appliance/device there is always greater than normal power draw initially.
I have a hard wired 1500W inverter. I can get away with my 750W hot plate and crockpot at the same time, but if I try the coffee pot and hot plate at the same time it pretty much maxes out my inverter. At least until the coffee is done brewing.
