My wife saw somewhere about making a rock collection by finding a rock from each state. She wants me to do that for my daughter.
So I'm pretty new to trucking. I'm in week 3 of training OTR right now and I've been looking at all the cute merchandise that there is in each state.
I wanna' know what are some of the things you guys collect from each state? I was thinking about getting a polo shirt from each state, but I either dont like the fabric on the shirts, or the logos on the shirts are stupid huge.
So what do you folks collect? Show pictures if you have any, aaaand go!
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Cool looking rocks. I have a bowl at home full of rocks I picked up along the way on a long trail I did in Elk Mountain, WY.
My wife wants to start a collection of those decorative spoons of the state's that I go through. I found out that not all truck stops sell them unfortunately.
I collect shot glasses from each state I go to. Most truck stops have them.
My wife has collected a stone from each state we've visited so far. When we have all the states collected I'm going to create a mold, and using liquid acrylic form a clear garden stepping stone with the stones imbedded within.
Other than collecting numerous stories, a few moments of terror and lots of great memories; I take a lot of photographs.
Without too many exceptions (like during really bad weather) I have taken a photograph of every trailer I've been dispatched with since I started on the Walmart account. I haven't counted them in a while, but I have taken well over 1000 trailer photographs.
I will publish yesterday's because it was the very first air-slide and air-ride Walmart trailer I have ever run. A true oddity and definitely not a newer unit, circa 2010.

Is this a CYA thing, or do you really like trailers?
I buy my youngest daughter a souvenir t shirt from every state I drive in. It's really tough to find small shirts at truck stops but I've managed to find a good variety for her.

Only CYA when there is what appears to be fresh damage; document and report it before moving it.
No I like trailers...trucks in general. I will use the photos at times as a visual guide to build HO scale trailers. There are a few in my photo gallery that I have built.
