A passport card works great. That is what I use.
If your coming up here a lot get a FAST card, passport's work but take more time for you to cross. You'll like Canada but Montreal which is in Quebec has it's own set of rules for the road you need to be aware of. And they make every other province use EN and FR on the road signs but not in QB so be prepared to have signs you can't read. And watch the speed limits we do KPM not MPH.

I am also wondering if a Simple passport card will work, too. I have no problem getting a passport, if needed. I just wish I would have thought about it all, sooner.

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance.
