This is more fir the rookies like myself. Its Sept. 1st that means chains must be in your truck for I70 at least west of Denver. (I forgot the exact mile marker posts). And starting next month all those winters stayes will begin their months when you must have them in the truck. Not all states start in October some in November. Some don't have month ranges they just expect you to have them if the weather requires them.

This has been your public service announcement....

State chain laws

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

If I'm correct, it doesn't matter if you know how to use them or the condition they're in, as long as they are with the truck. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong; I'm in this exact situation.

Condition of the chains: no more than 3 horizontal "ladder rungs" broken on any single-set chain.

You must have at least two drive tires chained when the chain law is up. I use the front two drives of my twin screw.

The mile markers and laws can change hourly during a storm, but generally, have chains ready in your tractor between C-470 and Utah, traveling in either direction, on I-70.
