Georgia (paper) CDL Expiration

Hi folks! I was wondering if anyone from Georgia knows how long your paper CDL is good for until it expires. I am asking because I will be routed home to switch my license from my school's state to Georgia however, if the paper license expires within 6 months, I'll have to wait for the hard copy before I can continue my training. Thanks in advance!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

My other half, who is from Georgia, says the paper temp CDL is generally good for about 90 days he thinks, however you should receive your permanent plastic one within about 10 days by mail. If you don't receive it time, you can go to any Driver's license office in the state to take care of it. The cool thing is they're generally open on Saturdays.
