It absolutely IS worth the time and money. Often an insurance company won't cover an inexperienced driver without that certificate, so companies would have difficulty hiring you, because of problems insuring you.
When I attended CDL school, there were 2 experienced drivers there. Why on earth were they there?? To get that 160 hour certificate so they could get a job.
It's not like it used to be 15 or 20 years ago where you could get your cdl on your own and easily get a job.
My other half went through the same thing. He had been driving local in Atlanta for several years so he had to go BACK to school to get another certificate so he could be hired by a company he wanted to drive for. Since he already had his cdl, he took the extra step and retested getting a certification as a driver instructor from the state.
