Left a 21 year career in Corrections to start a new life in trucking. Very excited about this chapter and think its gonna be very good for me and my family. Has anybody else made this career change???

Hey, someone like me! I've been a sworn LEO for the past (nearly) 12 years. I'm still a Level 1 Reserve, but am headed into the industry as a full time gig. I'm actually having my physical and taking my permit tests tomorrow.

My brother and step-dad are in the industry (logging) and my brother is an owner/op. My plan is to probably go to one of the mega-carriers after getting my permit for the length of one of the contracts or so until I have some experience, at which time my brother plans on having a truck ready for me to drive (most likely OTR , but shorter times out, in the beginning).

Good luck on your new career, Sarge!

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Chandler G: Still with us in trucking?

Thanks for your service as a Sargent in Corrections. I too left Corrections after over 20 years and now am in trucking. Thanks for your service to our community and contributing to keeping us all safe.

This is just my group...LOL... After 17yrs on the road (LEO) I am starting over. How has the transition been for you guys? Y'all are truly the ones I'd like to hear from, as we come from the same environment.

Thanks in advance..

BE SAFE!!!
