I brought my BC, marriage cert and divorce papers to show the name change but prime didn't really care. They expect women to change names due to marriage. They were most concerned about the birth certificate and social security card.
They know you provide this stuff to the DMV , it's just proving you are who is on the DL
My SS card is in my maiden name, i mever changed it when i got married...but somehow the IRS finds me hahha...except the time they said I was dead for three years....ne that's another thread in itself lol

Thanks, that's what I need to know.
Gosh the California DMV sure did have a tizzy about certified name change and marriage papers when I went to take my permit test even though they'd seen it all before at various times to change my license. I spent a few days visiting county clerks to re-obtain said documents. There's no getting out of it one way or another I guess.

That is because the law changed as of May 9th. You have to provide citizenship/residency proof when upgrading or renewing.
Even though in CA you had to provide both when you first got your license. I had to wait for my bc to get in from the State Department.

My driver's license is completely different from my birth certificate. That's because my last name changed when I got married, and I kept it even after divorce to have the same last name as my son. And, about 17 years ago or so I decided to officially change my middle name to my first name for personal reasons.
We moved gazillion times over a few years, several years back. I lost all my official papers. I did find a copy of the name change papers on the court website and printed out one signed by the judge, but how dire is it that I get my hands on another marriage license copy? I'll do it if needed, but it's kind of a pain. I have to find a notary to get the officially stamped version. I would think the background check would validate the progression of names with just driver's license and official birth certificate.
Did anyone ever have trouble with their name being different on driver's license vs. birth certificate? Or no.
