This a message for all fellow truck drivers who may be in Florida or the Southeastern coast these next few days. Please be safe and patient while this monster of a storm makes a visit to the Sunshine State. Try and make your deliveries or pick ups and leave as soon as possible or shelter in place where you will be safe and not in harm's way. I live in Ocala, Fl. and have prepared for the worse with my son at his home in Dunellon, Fl. The I-75N and I 95N along with I 10W are starting to become nightmares with heavy traffic along with the merger of I 75N and the Fl. Turnpike. I hope and pray for everyone's safety. Navypoppop

Yeah, I'm sitting in haubstadt Indiana waiting on another driver to do a relay with. He's getting my load to Green Bay, WI while I'm to head to Raleigh NC for Monday delivery. Fun fun.

Must stop at a Wally world to make sure I've got adequate supplies.

North Carolina is no longer in the area of imminent danger. With the current path, NC will barely get a tropical sprinkling.

We are hunkered down in Dunellon, Fl. just southwest of Ocala, Fl. in our son's block built home with pets, generator and tons of food and hoping for the best. We secured our double wide and left Ocala for safety reasons and now the storm's path will probably bring it right over or near us. Our hopes and prayers go out to all in harms way. Maybe you were lucky enough to leave Florida before the exodus of people on the highways. We extend our heartfelt concerns for anyone here, be safe as possible and we'll see you after the storm God willing.

Let us know how it goes for you Harry. I go through Ocala fairly often. I'm quite familiar with the area as I have some regular customers down in Tampa Bay on my dedicated account.

Personally, I'd rather stay and endure the storm than fight the effects of that mass exodus.

We evacuated, which is looking more and more like a good decision. Latest forecast have Irma heading right through my area on its way to Tampa.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Well I'm now up in Pennsylvania waiting it out. Hopefully, I will still have a house to go back to when this is over!. I am more concerned about those family and friends who decided to stick it out in the area though.

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
