MyNameGoesHere, please do start a thread on bed bugs. I have a new guys in my truck all the time now that I train and it's a concern of mine. I don't want them bringing it in and my truck being infested.

Preventative measures would be best option. Have them do all their laundry, even their bags, on high heat. The heat will kill off whatever's in their bags.

The worst part is, the students stay in hotels, hotels are a common place they get picked up at. The students may not have had them before and picked them up along the way.

Same thing with your clothes and bedding before you bring it in your house, bag it and straight to washer on high heat. Just as a safety precaution.

I'll definitely try to get something put together this weekend.

You have me.freaking out I've been itching about a week with mosquito bite looking thingies. (Yes that is a clinical term lol)

Someone suggested bed bugs now I'm going nuts looking three times a day and even trying to suck them up with my hand held Dyson with mattress attachment. Haven't seen anything...bugs blood or feces.

Can t wait u til.i.get.home to.benadryl the crap.out of.myself and rip the truck.apart for the truth.

Either im.nuts or.....oh wait. Forget it im.nuts and can't hide it. Lol

Everything I owned that could be put in the dryer went in the dryer. Including my backpack (removed all the paperwork), duffel bag, and shoes/boots. Set it to high heat for an hour.

Rainy, don't you have a cat? Did it get fleas? I will see if I can get an expert to post on here. He's currently recovering from Irma.

The cat is on the.monthly drops that kills fleas ticks and worms. He's fine and not.itching. bugs that bite him are supposed to.die.i haven't seen a flea or any bug.for that matter. the weather channel said cause of the storms insects are flying north so maybe i just got attacked by mosquitos due to my sweetness lol yeah right...i couldn't keep a straight face while typing that lol

Maybe the fleas learned to stop biting the cat and decided you would make a good replacement meal.

There are plenty of companies that do free inspections if you're concerned. Just make sure they show evidence, just to make sure they don't "find" something to get you to get treated when you don't need it.

If my memory serves me correctly bed bugs like heat. You can take a dish like a saucer and put soapy water in it. Then hang an incandescent light bulb above yet close to the water. Bed bugs go to heat and can't get out of the soap. This will help see if it's bed bugs, but won't get rid of them.

For Fleas. In the small area of a truck put a cut up pet flea collar in your vacuum. After a thorough vacuuming, dump the whole thing in a trash can outside the truck.

De-natured alcohol mixed equally with water put in a pump sprayer is the best way to kill the bugs and eggs. You have to melt them because their mostly protein from the blood they consume. Pesticides don't work on them you have to spray everyday for about a week to get rid of them. The water keeps the alcohol from evaporating to quickly.

Finally got my truck, prepared to sleep in it at the yard overnight, woke up covered in bed bugs 3 hours later. The exterminator they called told me that it was the worst he'd ever seen, and based on the amount of them, they have been in there at least a month. Thanks to QualComm , I know that someone was using it 4 days ago.

How can someone live like that? I wish I had taken pictures to show you guys how awful it was. I can't comprehend the level of sanitation someone had to maintain to allow it to get so bad.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

I'm not entirely sure about de-natured alcohol. Yes, you need to destroy as much as possible. Yes, pesticides do work. No, the ones you would buy from the stores (what I call 'over the counter pesticides') do not work....mostly. I'll go into that on another thread.
