Lynn, we are all cheering/rooting for you! Looking forward to reading your diary!

Hi Lynn, I'm heading to Prime SLC this monday for my training. I too am worried about the backing up, and shifting up and down. From what I read here on this website, Prime wants us to succeed, and I'm sure they will work with us with anything we need help with. It is nerve-wrecking and exciting at the same time.
Good luck Lynn!
Does anyone know if Prime SLC has the simulators?
Hi, the recruiter I spoke to mentioned we would be doing the simulator, too. Good luck to you as well!

Good luck at Prime SLC! I just finished the PSD portion in Sprimo. Good luck and stay positive the instructors there want you to be successful. Backing and shifting isnt as hard as it seems...its just a little intimidating at first. I look forward to following you on uour journey. Welcome to Prime :)

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Not quite there yet. Paperwork stuff happened. Almost. Shooting for the 6th. So- hazmat. Do I need to worry about this endorsement on the knowledge test, or can I skip this portion for now? Going today to take permit test. I have studied that part the least and if you fail one part, you fail all of it, apparently, so I'd rather just take what I need to get going for now under those circumstances.
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
Prime said nope, don't worry about hazmat right now. So that's good. See, I had thrown that on my permit application at the last minute and figured I'd just wing it. I'm a good test taker. I did read through that part of the manual a couple times, but it was a little more tedious than I'd thought. Then I found out I failed the whole permit test because I failed just that part. Another delay after the certified identity papers. Oh, well. There will be many hoops. I'll get it done on Monday.

I did it. I got my CDL permit and bus ticket to the Salt Lake terminal. Talked to my sister last night and answered all her questions and concerns- told her the only reason I feel comfortable taking a gamble on this is all the diaries I've read and all the info I've obtained on this forum over the last year. Thanks T T!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
I had wanted to make a diary since they helped me so much but my laptop broke. I'm on my phone but let me tell you- I'm at SLC and everyone is welcoming. I got my purple badge. So far so good. I'm excited to be a few steps closer.

At long last I'm in for September 26th at Prime SLC! Gotta pay an extra $100 for the DOT exam to get my permit at home, but that's okay because less time on the bus. I'm terrified and excited as hell. My concerns are the usual ones- training with a stranger, backing, missing home, but I'll be all right. I've been lurking here almost every day for months on end.
DOT:
Department Of Transportation
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
