I should clarify and say that many times you will get paid detention pay. You won't have to say anything, they'll just pay it. Other times you'll get extra pay for making short runs or going into tough areas or whatever. Dispatchers often have some discretionary pay they can use. So I'm not saying no one is ever going to get any detention pay. What I'm saying is don't worry about it, and certainly don't argue about it. If you want to send a quick note asking if you got detention pay then go for it. Personally I've never bothered. My notes are always about one thing - keep my rolling. That's it. If they'll keep me rolling we'll all make a ton of money and we'll all be happy. The rest is just trivial details.
Dispatcher:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
