Kat, truckers are interesting people!
Hide them behind a C.B. microphone or a computer keyboard and they will let it fly! Doesn't even bother some of them if they are showing their ignorance. The best thing to do with some of them is just ignore it and move on. It sounds like you've already got that part figured out. Good for you!
Operating While Intoxicated
It's a shame that too many people seem to not have the ability to discuss opposing views. It is a terrible blight on humanity. If someone has an argument opposite of your view instead of making points as to why you have that view, just hurl insults and fists. I guess the people who last here are the ones who know how to have a discussion. Just read through our forums. I don't have facebook. I also, no longer respond to internet trolls. I love my big company, elogs , the loads they keep me rolling with and, of course, the money.
Electronic Logbook
A device which records the amount of time a vehicle has been driven. If the vehicle is not being driven, the operator will manually input whether or not he/she is on duty or not.

Big Scott, this is usually a big indicator that they don't actually have any real argument at all. Usually someone who only has an agenda resorts to name calling and insults immediately if challenged with a question or a logical argument. Simply put, it's all they've got to stand on.
Some of the best conversations in this forum have resulted from times when people questioned us on our stance on something, or maybe disagreed with us about a topic. Those scenarios open up an opportunity for us to lay out the details, or the reasoning behind why we hold a certain position. Unfortunately it has also resulted in some of the most miserable conversations we've had.
It is fairly easy to recognize when a person in here genuinely wants to learn something, or if they are just here to propagate misinformation. If they can have an intelligent conversation with you, then often times we may all learn something. If all they've got is venom and accusatory rhetoric then we can usually just move on without letting them have a platform here.

I have had to remove myself from several Facebook groups for truckers lately because I just can't stand the insults and whining any longer. I don't understand all the uproar and misinformation circulating about electronic log use now that it is being mandated. I have only used elogs and obviously have no issue making decent money, so I just don't get it. The rules haven't changed (8/10/14/70), so is it just that so many people out there who have been paper logging are now going to be forced to run legally that is the issue with these guys? When I have spoken of my own experience with them and lack of problems, the insults being hurled back at me are unbelievable. It seems there is a lot of hatred out there toward "mega carriers" and those of us who choose to drive for them are nothing more than steering wheel holders with no brains who like being told when to sleep, when to drive, what loads to run, etc. AND that's putting it nicely! I believe the last thing given to describe me was that I was a stupid, mega carrier c***, a flunked out teacher and a Prime driver...so what did I know about anything? I just know I'm happy doing this. I make enough money, and I love how Prime treats me. Don't know how that is a bad thing!
Makes me even more appreciative of this forum. Outside of the Prime driver pages I frequent, this is by far the most supportive environment for truckers.
