Just a couple of notes. Yup, had a bad experience on my first recovery. *Recovered from a shop where it had been left during a DEF box rebuild. One fuel tank was still switched off so it wouldn't cross feed. Numerous lights out. Interior a complete sty, included preloaded trucker bombs.

As for leftover gear, I know Swift holds all personal items 90 days if the truck is left at a terminal.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Yeah, recovering a truck is almost always a nightmare. I think everyone dreads having to do that.

Even from a common sense perspective, why would you burn your bridges with past employers. Even if that Driver won't return to trucking, that abandonment will follow him to whatever career he goes to. Employers care about employment history and reasons for leaving.

I just don't understand why he didn't deadhead to a terminal , even just empty. Prime would have preferred that instead of sending another driver down to recover it.

Deadhead:

To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.
