Also, a bit irrelavent, but the governor has temporarily lifted the HOS regulation 395.3 for trucks carrying oil into the state. This is in effect until the 9th.
The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
The FMCSA was established within the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000. Their primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries.
What Does The FMCSA Do?
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Ah, but Ms. Raimondo has banned all trucks coming into Rhode Island, so no fuel for her lol.
Typically my company routes around RI, but I had a delivery last week in Sharon, MA and that customer doesn't allow overnight parking so I snagged an overpriced spot at the little TA outside of Westerly. Technically I think it's West Greenwich. Anyway, It's a lovely state, I've got many friends there from my healthcare contracting days. It was awesome getting the chance to meet up with a few friends both there and in NH.
That TA is one of my favorites, although it's in the least-trucking-friendly state in the country. I've been there twice.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
It's the only truck stop in the state, but it's not like we can't just stop in Connecticut or Mass lol. Confirmed: Raimondo hates trucks. And its not like we have freight trains... We rely on the boats at this point lol.

This is a bit late, but if you are in/near New England, I'd advise you shut down asap. Here in RI, We've already had 9 trucks jackknife about 36 go off of the road. 14 inches of snow already, and it's set to keep on going. Sustained wind of 25mph, gusts up to 60mph. The Governor has banned all trucks from entering Rhode Island. From what I can tell, anywhere from NJ up on I-95 is dangerous.
Stay safe, be smart.
