Made about 49k last year doing dedicated day cab home daily. Want to make more of course, but when the company has overfilled the driver pool, with the winter upon us, there's not much I can do to get more miles.
My company has sleepers too, but was looking around to see what else is out there. Only have this flatbed experience. Wife and I have talked, she's ok with me overnighting a few times a week ( she's been with me through the army and national guard days so she knows how to deal). Is it worth it though? Should I just suck it up, or is doing a regional sleeper job better? One I was looking at was Cardinal-Greatwide doing the Sysco distribution it if Front Royal, va. Home weekends and at least two nights a week.
I know, I'm rambling, just looking for some insight.
Regional:
Regional Route
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
Day Cab:
A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.
